Marskarter, coming from Rhode Island, acknowledges that fellow hip-hop musicians in his area often create music that differs significantly from his own style. The prevalent music genres range from New York drill to old-school boom bap beats, leaving little room for him to establish himself as an artist in the small music scene.
Marskarter's main goal in music is to uplift and inspire people. Drawing from his own experiences growing up, Marskarter looked up to musicians as role models, whose music profoundly impacted his life. Now, he hopes to be a positive role model for others who choose to follow his musical journey.
If given the chance to change one thing in the music industry, Marskarter would opt to remove TikTok and Reels. He believes that these platforms contribute to inauthentic fan bases for bigger artists, as things may become overly hyped and trendy. For smaller artists, it creates a new standard where success depends on pushing songs on these platforms for other creators to use, rather than people discovering their music videos and genuinely connecting with their work.
