Hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, emerging artist Madd Manson offers a candid perspective on the challenges and aspirations of independent musicians navigating today’s industry. His reflections are raw and honest, grounded in personal experience and a deep love for his craft. “I’m from Kansas City Missouri, and the music scene out there ain’t really it,” says Madd Manson. “Artists could get recognized quicker if they went to another state. If you do music there everybody hate on you unless you from out of town.” This sentiment reflects the difficulties many regional artists face—striving for recognition in environments that may lack the infrastructure or support to help them thrive. For Madd Manson, the path forward is driven by purpose and a desire to uplift those around him.
“My main goal in my career is to be able to feed my people from doing something I love,” he shares. “Music is everything to me, I really don’t know what I would be doing if I didn’t have music in my life, probably getting in trouble.”
Madd Manson also has strong opinions about the current state of the music industry, particularly how artists are compensated and how Hip-hop culture is perceived in the modern era. “If I could change one thing about the music industry I would change that way artists get paid from streams, also change the way Hip-hop is perceived now days. I want ppl to love hip hop like they used to.” With a clear vision, genuine passion, and a commitment to authenticity, Madd Manson stands as a voice for change—both in his hometown and the broader hip hop community.
