Rising From Setbacks: jag’s Journey as a Musician

Every artist faces challenges, but few experiences test a musician’s resilience quite like losing their entire body of work. jag, formerly known as Jletso, opens up about his journey, the obstacles he has faced, and the mindset that drives his creativity. jag
shares, “My toughest challenge yet as a musician was having my whole catalog deleted. That’s why I had been laying low for almost half of 2025. Now, I have rebranded from Jletso to jag, and it’s refreshing—it’s kind of like a new beginning.”

jag states that a typical day when working on a new project is often unremarkable. “I might hear a beat I like or think of a melody randomly during the day. Then, when I get home, I just start recording in my bed, freestyling and creating,” jag explains, highlighting his organic and spontaneous creative process.

When asked about advice for up-and-coming artists, jag emphasizes focus and dedication. He shares, “My advice to any up-and-coming artist like myself is to have tunnel vision: block out the noise and create art.” jag’s story is a testament to resilience and reinvention in the music industry. From overcoming a major setback to embracing a new identity and creative process, jag is demonstrating that growth often comes from the challenges that seem insurmountable.
