Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, 002Melly admits he doesn’t pay close attention to the local music scene. “I’m from Mobile, AL, and I don’t really pay attention to the music scene out here too much,” he says. “But from what I do know, the city of Mobile as a whole is on the rise.”
Right now, 002Melly is focused on something deeper than just streams or charts. “As of right now at this very moment, my main goal is to build a strong fan base—like my own community that I would call a family.”
When it comes to the music industry at large, he doesn’t hesitate to share the changes he’d like to see. “If I could change one thing in the music industry, it would either be the way upcoming artists are seen as in gaining popularity and support, or if I could do something about feature prices,” he explains. As an independent artist trying to break through, he points out a major financial barrier that many face early in their careers. “Because as an upcoming artist myself, the prices I hear and see for a feature be outrageous. If you’re an upcoming artist just starting, you’re not just gonna have $2,500–$5,000 for a feature on your own.” 002Melly’s message is clear: he’s committed to authenticity, building a true community of listeners, and advocating for greater accessibility in the music industry—especially for those on the come-up.
